The Wedding Lounge
by: Judy tarbell
When our daughter Shamli married her partner, Sheila, it was time to create a lounge chair broad enough for two.
Wanting to honor their commitment to each other, I stepped outside of my usual rectilinear design comfort zone and turned for design inspiration to the California white oak I had in my shop. Both the front and back legs are cut from wood naturally curved by the forces of nature. The arms are bookmatched with a live edge detail.
The chair is finished with varnish. In time I’ll sew new cushion covers in a less fugitive color than red!
