Working with wood involves me with the ever-changing and growing energy of nature. Wood is always in transition as it reacts to the surrounding environment and it is this natural reaction that constantly inspires and challenges me as a furniture maker. My furniture explores and showcases the abundant and diverse native tree heritage found within northern California.
I was born in Palo Alto, California in 1942 and have lived and worked in northern California my entire life. I graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in art; studied sculpture at the Valand Art School in Sweden; and furniture making at the College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program.
I have a small woodworking shop here in Mendocino where I work on custom furniture, doors and screens. I also offer small hands-on woodworking classes throughout the year.
