Dan Stalzer

I make greenwood ladderback chairs, and use the greenwoodworking process when appropriate in making one of a kind furniture pieces for speculation and commission. I teach greenwood chairmaking for a living. I use native and local hardwoods such as Tan Oak, Madrone, Acacia, etc., and especially like to use storm- fallen trees or thinnings from forest improvement efforts. Simple hand tools predominate in my chairmaking but I have a fully equiped furnituremaking studio for working with any kind of wood. I welcome visitors by appointment and demonstrate chairmaking to groups on request.
