I approach each project with a desire to create engaging, friendly furniture. My designs are crisp, elegant, and warm, and reflect the patterns and forms I see in nature.
I work much as my predecessors did; with well-honed hand tools and simple machines; maintaining a close relationship to my materials. The feel and smell and weight of wood comforts me.
Each new piece I create starts with a vision and proceeds in an open ended way, from sketches, to full-sized studies, to the actual piece, without a rigid blueprint. Ideas have time to solidify, the wood chosen has a chance to speak, and unique details come to light as the piece grows; features that might have been impossible to predetermine.
The results of my labors is unique, yet recognizable, something to be rediscovered continuously; furniture that appreciates in emotional and aesthetic value.
